ABSA Bank is a subsidiary of the Barclays Africa Group. They offer a variety of business, retail, investment and corporate banking, and wealth management services and products predominantly in South Africa. They have equity holdings in banks in Tanzania and Mozambique, representative offices in Nigeria and Namibia, and Bancassurance operations in Zambia, Botswana and Mozambique.
For this group from ABSA, TBAE facilitated a Hitting The Target team building at The Wanderers Club in Johannesburg. The Wanderers Club mission is to be the Premier Sporting Club in South Africa, striving to understand, recognise, and meet needs of members, stakeholders, and partners through ongoing product development, investment, service delivery systems and by developing a technological capacity, promoting partnerships, new revenue streams and recognising the need to transform the demographic profile of the Club.
The Hitting The Target team building activity starts with the group being divided into different teams using TBAE’s ice breakers. These ice breakers are designed to divide the group up in a way that ‘cliques’ are separated and new relationships formed. The teams then go on to compete against each other in a number of challenges designed to test aim and targeting skills. Points are awarded for each challenge and the team with the highest points at the end of the event is declared the winning team.
Some possible outcomes of the Hitting The Target team building activity include focus, improving accuracy, reaching goals, goal orientation, teamwork, communication, leadership, cooperation, goal setting, creative thinking, decision making, problem solving, resilience, time management and trust.
