Gumboot dancing was created by miners in as an alternative to drumming. Using all manner of slapping and stamping of the boots, each noise produced would represent a specific signal to other miners a short distance away in the dark conditions underground.
The teams are taught an African Gumboot Dance and then need to exhibit their newly acquired skill. Our gumboot dancing expert leads the teams firstly into a short warm up before teaching you how to master the various steps, stomps and slaps needed to create an energetic performance.
This activity works amazingly well as a quick icebreaker or energiser, or as a longer team building session
Some of the themed team building activities that include Gum Boot Dancing are Tribal Survivor, Drumming and Wacky Wet Weird and Wonderful.
