Steve Jobs was an American entrepreneur, marketer and inventor. He was the co-founder, chairman and CEO of Apple Inc. Jobs is widely recognized as a pioneer of the personal computer revolution and for his career in the computer and consumer electronics fields.  Steve Jobs also co-founded Pixar Animation Studios and became a member of the board of directors of The Walt Disney Company in 2006. He left Apple in 1985 and founded NeXT, a computer platform development company specializing in the higher-education and business markets. When Jobs returned to Apple as an interim CEO, he brought Apple from near bankruptcy to profitability by 1998. As CEO, he oversaw the development of the iMac, iTunes, iPod, iPhone, iPad, Apple Retail Stores, iTunes Store and the App Store. By 2011, Apple bounced back to become the world’s most valuable publicly traded company.

On October 5, 2011, Steve Jobs died of respiratory arrest. He had received a number of honors and public recognition. He has been referred to as “legendary” and “visionary”, and seen by many as the “Father of the Digital Revolution”.
