To start the Potjiekos Cooking Competition, the facilitator will divide your group into teams using TBAE’s ice breakers. These ice breakers are designed to divide the group up in a way that ‘cliques’ are separated and new relationships formed.
The teams then go on to compete against each other in a team building activity with the winning team getting the first choice of the core ingredients. Next, each team receives coupons which they use to bid for the rest of the ingredients. After the bidding process, teams are allowed to barter with each other for any ingredient they may still need.
With all their ingredients ready, teams can now begin with cooking their potjie. While the potjies are cooking, teams compete against each other in a few team building exercises. Once the potjies are ready they are presented for judging. Everybody gets to eat from the potjies and after the meal the winning team and runners up are announced.
