TBAE’s Raft Building and Racing team building activity is a highly interactive and creative activity which gets the whole team working together. This activity is venue specific and requires a venue with suitable facilities to accommodate both the raft building and racing aspects of the event.

The Raft Building and Racing team building activity start with the group being divided into different teams using TBAE’s ice breakers. These ice breakers are designed to divide the group up in a way that ‘cliques’ are separated and new relationships formed.

Each team is provided with plenty of barrels, ropes and planks. The teams then need to tap into their creative side to construct a sturdy raft.  After all the rafts have been completed it is time for them to be tested on the water. Members are chosen from each team to sail on the rafts while they are cheered on by the rest of the team. The team whose raft crosses the water first is declared the winners of the Raft Building and Racing team building activity.

In this activity teams must construct plans, strategies and have the foresight and imagination to see a project through to success. Raft building brings many strengths and weaknesses to the surface, and will “gel” a team through achievement. Some possible outcomes of the Raft Building and Racing team building activity include focus, improving accuracy, reaching goals, goal orientation, teamwork, communication, leadership, cooperation, goal setting, creative thinking, decision making, problem solving, resilience, time management and trust.
