Critical Thinking is the ability to discern whether something that is said is always true, sometimes true, partially true or false.  Critical Thinking is an essential skill for students progressing through university and post graduate studies. It is also a skill required in most professions. Fundamental critical thinking skills include observation, interpretation, analysis, inference, evaluation, explanation and meta-cognition. Critical Thinking can also be defined as the persistent effort to examine any belief or form of knowledge in the light of evidence that supports it.

Not only does Critical Thinking employ logic but also broad intellectual criteria such as clarity, credibility, accuracy, precision, relevance, depth, breadth, significance and fairness. Some characteristics of a person that have strong Critical Thinking skills include the desire to follow reason, a systematic approach to problem solving, inquisitiveness, even-handedness and confidence in reasoning. Critical Thinking skills help you to analyze and evaluate information in order to obtain the greatest amount of knowledge from it. It also helps to reduce bias and prejudice, providing a better understanding of your environment.

In TBAE’S Critical Thinking workshop, participants will learn skills to evaluate, identify and distinguish between relevant and irrelevant information. Subjects covered in the course include Components of Critical Thinking, Non-Linear Thinking, Logical Thinking, Critical Thinkers, Evaluate Information, Benefits of Critical Thinking, Changing Your Perspective and Problem Solving.
